O'Canada....Blessing....Breakfast

ImageMarita Webb chaired this meeting while Wynn greeted us upon arrival.

President Ken opened the meeting with heart-felt sympathy to Wayne and Sandy (Harper) for the sudden death of their son, Todd.  He encouraged all of us to come together as a community to help in any way during their difficult time.

ImageJoanna Perkin was introduced by guest, Lisa Smith.  Joanne is planning a trip to Kenya (to help build a school) via Free the Children, a sister organization of Me-to-We.  Both charity groups can be accessed online at www.metowe.com and www.freethechildren.com.

As part of Joanna’s fundraising (cost anticipated at $6,000), she will be having a concert at Live Bait on April 5th @ 7:30pm and selling baked goods at the Farmer’s Market.  She also distributed a pledge sheet to Rotarians along with a business card with addition information.

As stated above, her mission while in Kenya is to help with the building of a school.  For every school that is built, the government promises to provide one teacher.  There will be approximately 10-15 other participants (students) and their facilitators.  Upon return from Kenya, Joanna will be attending Mount Allison University.
Image Gayle thanked Joanna for speaking to us today.
