PRESIDENT’S TIME

GUEST SPEAKER
Before introducing today’s guest speaker, Susan and Sheri wanted to thank Rotary for their participation at Relay for Life, explaining a bit of their goals and introducing Susan as the new Chair for the Sackville area.
Also, Gayle presented Leslie with the award for Spiciest Chili from the Chili-Cook-Off.
Brian then introduced David Listke who works at Mount Allison in the Geography (??) Department. David spoke to us about the potential flooding in Sackville should sea levels rise and our dykes no longer work. They are studying the Tantramar dykelands and what would happen to our area. Weather and climate change are big factors in this study. David asked what were we going to do about it? He also circulated a survey, before and after, asking various questions to help them in their research.
Several areas are at risk in Sackville with a 8.9 meter surge, including the Trans-Canada highway – which would be partially cut off. Bridge and Lorne streets would both be under water. Our new Town Hall would also be at risk.
Dianne thanked David for his informative presentation.
Once surveys were completed, President Ken adjourned with the stating of the 4-Way Test.
