MAKE-UPS
- Pam B has returned from Florida with several make-ups. She shared three with us this morning, held at her home-away-from-home club in Santa Belle. Their annual art sale took place which included 120 artists and $80,000 in profit. The artists pay for a table (to rent) and a donation (of their work) for the silent auction. Two other topics were a horse farm and a mental health program.
- Sandy and Wayne attended the Englewood club while in Florida with 39 members and 20 visitors!! Topic of discussion was Club Runner. Right up Wayne’s alley.
- Leslie recently returned from the Dominican Republic where she tried to attend a Rotary meeting but it was cancelled due to the Easter weekend. She did, however, spend much of her time with three other Rotarians and lots of work.
- The Wine/Beer Committee also met this past week.

50/50 DRAW
Charlie drew Leslie’s number for a big win! Must of been all that thinking...
HAPPY DOLLARS
Leslie was happy to win 50/50 and for going to the Dominican and returning. It was 28 degrees but felt like 38!!
Patricia announced a PSA stating that she is selling Girl Guide cookies for $5/box. Then iron-fisted Rotarian in buying several boxes!
Charlie is headed to Kittery, Maine where he’ll see his grandchildren again and determine if they are the ‘smartest’.
Pam B already visited with her granddaughter, whom she assures us, IS the ‘smartest’!
Karen paid penance for not having the bulletins written in a timely fashion.
…And Trish keeps her job!!!! Woot! Woot!
Josh is heading fishing this weekend. Have fun!
Louise had lots of fun with her daughter this past Easter weekend. Was that because she got to eat her candy?? Hmmmm…..
Brian was pretty happy about the Girl Guide cookies being available for purchase… He also informed us that he will not be here next week as he is moving to new offices in Sackville and then off to Dallas, Texas (where there will be an opportunity to golf) and then headed to SanAntonio with wife, Carol. Busy guy!

COMMITTEE REPORTS
Wine/Beer Tasting – Gayle
- Weekly meetings are held on Wednesdays at Bistro 96 at 12:15pm. All are welcome!
- Most of the leg-work is done – there will be a few changes this year including the lay-out and no live music;
- Sell, sell, sell (could be our last year???);
- Sandy has gathered 248 email addresses from previous years. She will forward an email to members with names;
- Posters which have been distributed contain both Dale and Ken’s cell phone numbers;
President Ken stated that, to the general public, a ticket to the event represents a fun evening out. To our club, ticket sales represent what we can do as services (e.g. RYE). Ken feels that we have an obligation to our vendors and would like to see 400 pre-sold tickets for the event. He ended by thanking Gayle and her committee for all their efforts.
UPCOMING MEETINGS
- RYE will meet tonight at 6:30pm at Patricia’s. All welcome!
- *Please note that the District Governor will be in Houlton, Maine for the upcoming District Conference on June 1, 2012.
PRESIDENT’S TIME
President Ken called upon in-coming President Trish Edwards to present a motion to the club.
Motion: That the club transfer $3,000 from Operations budget to Trust account to purchase the SmartBoard. The Executive Committee recommends that Rotary of Sackville contribute these funds for another purchase and installation of a SmartBoard at Salem Elementary school in support of their effort to put a SmartBoard in every classroom. Sandy seconded the motion.
Call for the question…
All in favour (except from our smart-alec RYE student, Felix!)
Motion was approved.
President Ken then reminded us of our efforts towards the local schools:
- Two high school bursaries;
- Middle school breakfast program;
- SmartBoards at Salem Elementary;
- Not to mention the weekly donation of a book to one of the school libraries.
The meeting was adjourned with the stating of the 4-Way Test.
