HAPPY DOLLARS
This lady always beams happiness!
When Leslie told her son that Apple Inc.’s Steve Jobs died,
he commented that he had just taken a bite out of an apple…a MacIntosh at that!
Pat’s final pet has passed away. She kept waiting for her to come home… L She commented on the good times that the RYE
students had while in PEI over the weekend for their Orientation. She is also happy to be going to Ottawa for a
week this Saturday.
Pernille showed us her great blazer and said she had a “great
time” at the Orientation.
Ken was happy to see Leslie win 50/50. He also mentioned that the Rick Hanson Run
was a great event although there were not too many spectators. The one-pound medal was passed around.
Beth placed $7 in the Happy Dollars dish this morning…One
for each Rotarian who contributed to Relay for Life. She asked that members pray for her mother
who is starting chemotherapy.
Sue P. is off to see her father, in Toronto, to celebrate
his 93rd birthday. Wow!!

COMMITTEE REPORTS
Membership - Andy – Four names have been added to the “potential
members” list. The committee will be meeting
again on Tuesday and more details will follow.
RYE – Dianne – Committee to give presentation at the high
school on next year’s exchange.
Projects – Trish – reviewed the next steps for the Learn
Program. She felt that there is a role
for service clubs to play with the gaps and needs in Sackville with regards to
literacy. They would like to see a developed
work plan and implementation strategy.
Currently we have given Salem Elementary school a SMARTBoard and have
donated to the Marshview Middle school Breakfast Club.
Trish Edwards motioned that the club endorses the
recommendation of the Projects Committee and the Executive to put $1,000
together with the $1,500 allotted from Projects (for a total of $2,500) to hire
a consultant to perform the gaps and needs assessment of the Learn Program.
A lengthy, controversial discussion was held by
members. When the motion was put to a
vote, motion was denied.
Unfortunately, our time grew short and we were not able to hear our guest speaker’s presentation. With apologies
to Su Coish, Chairperson Gayle adjourned the meeting with the stating of the 4-Way Test.
UPCOMING MEETINGS
Membership to meet Tuesday.
PRESIDENT’S TIME
Ken stated that having the discussion today was a positive thing. We are a democracy and that’s
what the club
is about.
GUEST SPEAKER
Cancelled due to time limitations. Again, our apologies to Rotarian Su Coish. We are all looking forward to your presentation (Classification Talk) next week.
Our meeting adjourned with the stating of the 4-Way Test.
