Trish was in the chair today and opened the meeting with the positive thought for the day.

For the first time in a long time there were no guests and no makeups were reported.  However there were three visiting Rotarians - Roger White and Susan McIsaac from Amherst and Joseph (last name not noted) and his wife from New York .Image  On the birthday front, Trish will celebrate on the 5th and Susan C. on the 9th.

Image  Celebrating their 52nd anniversary are Joyce and Laing Ferguson on the 6th.  Pin Pal stories were non-existent this week.

This weeks 50/50 draw winner was visiting Rotarian Roger.  He was Happy that he won.  also happy this week was Gayle who reported that Bruno and Johanne are safe in Lennoxville and have been talking to Dale about his marathon trip.........Pam. B. is happy that she is going Dragon-boating in Vermont.  Seems there is a festival there...........Visiting Rotarian Joseph's wife was happy because she liked the name of our dollar - the Loonie.  She claimed it made her feel happy.  I know if I had enough of them, I would also feel happy...........Charlie was in the centre of the earth (Toronto) where he and his eldest grandsons saw the musical Billy Elliot.........Leslie reported that former RYE student Laurie (Belgium) indicates that her trip here still has profound effects on her............Trish was ecstatic that she is going on vacation.  She also requested that someone take over her greeter's role next week..........Ken was happy for his grandson's "lets fight" attitude when he put on hockey gear for a conversation with a 100-year-old who thought that bank managers were lucky like Bono..........Dianne alluded to a visit from husband Frank's cousin and a trip to see the 80,000 birds at the Cape.

Committee Reports were miniscule this week as Gayle reminded members of the corn boil on the Labour day weekend.  Volunteers are needed and someone to organize Rotary's participation.  See Ken. The  following meetings are coming up in the next week. -------- Fundraising meets at 12:15 on Monday the 8th at Patterson's.  ------------ The Membership Committee will meet at 5:00 pm on Tuesday the 9th in the Board room of the Chamber of Commerce's office.  ------------ The Executive meets on Wednesday the 10th at 5:30 at Pam B.'s house.  The new DG will probably attend.

Prez. Ken and members of the Executive are reviewing committee membership, in particular those members who are not on any particular committee at the present time.  You know who you are.  Consider what committee(s) you want to be on and let Ken know.  For a full list of the committee and a brief outline of their responsibilities, go to our web site home page and check out the committees.  Otherwise don't complain when he places you on a committee of his choice.

Prez. Ken did double duty as he welcomed Roger White from the Amherst Club as our guest speaker.  Roger is General Manager of radio station CKDH in Amherst.  Originally from River Hebert (Pam H. cheered), he also had ties to Fenwick (Pam B. cheered).  He originally applied to every radio station in the Maritimes except CKDH, with little interest from any of them.  Eventually he applied to CKDH and was hired.  His love of radio came from his grandfathers telling of the events of JFK's assassination.  His mentor in Amherst was long-time manager Fred Arbing, where he learned the importance of the community and the partnership that is created.  Recently they have added a FM component (101.7) to their broadcast area allowing their signal to be heard as far away as Summerside PE and Petticodiac NB.  They have done extensive research into what type of music they should be playing.   Roger finished his presentation by answering questions.  Roger was thank by Pam B, noting the book that will be presented to the library on his behalf.
